Solar needs to be 5V higher than the battery to start the MPPT. Assuming a 12V battery, you might have a poor connection in the solar leads.
Solar only kick out 14v so that would suggest this may not be the right charger then ? As only 2v difference ??
More a case of the wrong panel. You would need to use one with a higher Voltage for the mppt to work.
But when you put the details of the Solar panel to get the correct charger on the website it states a 75/15 . I would have thought the charger is the wrong size if it needs 17 volts plus to work ?
What are the specifications on the back of the solar panel?
The small Sargent units are regulator/PWM, not MPPT, so they will start right away.
MPPT units wait until there is enough of a voltage difference from the panel to the battery to convert efficiently. eg more illumination on the panel.
