Incosistent solar charging

Hello,

I have a victron set up that was purchased through vunked and it is very inconsistent when it comes to the solar panels. It will work some days and then not on others and it is unclear what is causing this. It has one solar panel, going through the smart shunt. It always states that it is on, typically bulk, but then achieves no yield. The system will still lose power. What I can’t understand is why it will work some days, but not others with no visible difference. It can work perfectly on one sunny day and then nothing for a week, where it will suddenly start working again. Is it possible that this is due to a faulty part? I reached out to vunked and they said they would send a new smart shunt, but then the system started working perfectly for two months so I figured I must have just had a loose cable which I had sorted. Then it stops working again and there does not seem to be any cable issue.

Any ideas why it might be so inconsistent.

Thanks

Faulty crimp connection or broken connection in panel.

Both react to temperature changes

What are the system and solar panel specs, if you use mppt’s you know your PV voltage has to be 5V higher then battery voltage just to start charging?

@pwfarnell thanx for editing my answer on typos, but its not 0.5v above battery but 5v above battery to start the mppt see the mppt manual section 6.2

Yes, mea culpa.
