I’m Victron frustrated right now. I started with a smart shunt and a MPPT in my Class A motorhome. Both worked fine. I think I have two issues.
The motorhome sat in my shop for a while. Now that I’m back in it the shunt shows impossibly high current and power. Well over the shunt, motorhome system and small power substation limitations. 896.13A, 12259W.
I have done a proper zero current calibration with the load side cable disconnected, reset to factory defaults and power down/ power up with no change. I have a smaller shunt I can put in it’s place to verify. I think it was a firmware update. As far as I know nothing happened out of the ordinary with the system. Although lightning is a theory.
I’m still learning Victron UI so I’m not too good with that yet.
The other thing to check is the shunt resistance in the settings. It should be 50mV. I think under miscellaneous? Not near mine to check
Or just reset to default and set up again.
[Edited - never mind this can’t be set on the smart shunt]
Does it show the high current with nothing attached on the load side?
Hi Ross,
Can you check the Trends in VictronConnect when connected via Bluetooth to your SmartShunt? There can be about 45 days of current/voltage values stored in your SmartShunt assuming it has been running all that time.
Maybe it’s possible to see when this weird behavior started and relate that to an event you are aware of (update, lightning etc etc)?
Can you also make a service report which I can check for issues? See here if you don’t know how to make such a report.
In any case, if you’ve ruled out wire/installation issues and the problem persists then I would advise you to contact your distributor/seller to get a replacement unit as it would seem your unit is broken.
