I recently got Lifepo4 batteries and I’m having bulk random issues, these Victron equipment seems to be very sooky.
I cannot seem to get it to stop using my generator even when the solar is pumping in a 6000w and the battery is charging at almost 90amp. The generator is then cranked up, pulling in 2000w and wasting fuel. It’s all good according to the dynamic ESS I’ve got it set to Green mode, diesel is clean right VICTRON!!!
Why would you want the generator to be idling while running? That is a greater waste of fuel and is bad for the generator.
It would be better to optimise when it is started and stopped. Run it hard if needed and shorter period for battery charging.
Otherwise run off grid/inverting as long as possible.
DESS and generator use? Now i am am confused as to your set up use case.
You will need to explain more.
Hi,
Nah the generator starts up by itself from the Victron inverter, I’m not home to stop it. I have no idea why it’s running, It’s only started happening when I installed the new LifePo4 batteries and the JK BMS, It will start the genset and just start consuming the fuel while the solar panels are making triple what the house is consuming. The house was consuming 650w, solar input was doing 6128w and the generator was pushing 2000w into it.
I do not want the generator to be running ever / only when it’s required, no batteries power etc.. I just don’t understand how to turn it off.
Here are 3 things that I want to figure out, this NEVER happened when I had SLA batteries.
1: How to consume excess solar when the batteries are fully charged instead of 0’ing the solar input.
2: NEVER run the generator unless it’s the end of the world
