I have a multiplus 48/5000 from 2018 which is now not working, I’ve spent many hours fault finding on the control boards but without a circuit diagram it’s pretty much impossible, I’ll post details of that issue separately, this question is to Victron and how they deem themselves to comply with the right to repair eu directive 2024/1799 which sets out the requirement for manufacturers to promote repair over replacement. Now I understand that they might not want to release circuit diagrams but spares should be easier to obtain at “reasonable prices”. I want a circuit board for my otherwise perfectly good inverter which is only 2 years out of warranty. Getting parts seems impossible, nothing is published regarding availability or prices. Repairs for an item like mine at a Victron approved repair centre would be far beyond economical. So come on Victron how do you consider your compliance with said directive is met. I feel a class action coming on
Have you even considered to contact Victron to see what, if anything, they could do for you.
Generally, there is a logic board connected on a power board. Usually the power board components are malfunctioning.
Theoretically, any electronic engineer with knowledge about SMPS-es and power electronics will be able to repair a Multiplus.
So, don’t worry, if you know such repairer, you don’t necessarily need Victron, especially if it’s out of warranty.
Interested to see them…
hi yes, ive contacted an aproved repair centre directly, and yes they will supply parts on the understanding that it is at my risk. iv’e also been in contact with the original supplier who were also helpfull. however, none of the options promote repair over replace as the pcb is £430+delivery and the supplier option is return -RMA and if uneconomical there “may” be an offer of a voucher towards a new one. I am a Victron fanI have lots of the lovely blue stuff but i think their buisness model will need to change to be compliant with said EU directive. you only have to look at the amount of potting they use which effectively renders items unrepairable.
As far as I know that regulation doesn’t apply to the product class of Victron products.
