Help understanding settings for 50a orion

Hello

Im using an Orion 50a with a fogstar 280ah lithium

I’ve been having a bit of a confusing time getting it setup so that i’m getting close to the actual 50a

I have a decent Standard alternator putting out over 14v

Have good cables etc

If I use power supply mode can get 50a all good

If i turn off engine shutdown detection I get 46a all good

If i use engine shutdown detection I can never find a setting the works. I’ve tried using the default but gives me about 5a.

I tried lowering the shutdown to 12.8 but all that happens is the input matches whatever voltage i put in the shutdown voltage and doesn’t go above it, which makes no sense. if i increase the shutdown to say 13.4 then the input jumps to that but lowers the amps.

Shouldn’t shutdown just monitor it and if falls below that turns off, not makes that the default input value ??

I’m really confused

If the input voltage goes down to the configured shutdown voltage the Orion reduces the current to keep the voltage at that level.

That’s an indication for to long/small wires or that the alternator can’t deliver more current.

Measure the voltage at the starter battery.

the starter battery is getting about 14v

Also is cables were an issue, when i turn off engine shutdown i’m getting the full 50a so cables are fine to carry that i’m presuming ?

What voltage do you measure at the Orion?

What voltage do you have if you disabled the engine detection?
