I have a Victron install in my RV. I have a Victron 4G Cellular Modem connected to my Cerbo GX for remote VRM monitoring while the RV is in storage.
We also have Starlink for when we’re traveling, but we don’t turn it on until we get to our destination and set up. Using the Android GX WiFi display in this scenario is a no-brainer. I understand that.
What I’m uncertain about is how do I connect the android tablet in Kiosk mode to the cerbo when I’m NOT using Starlink? The LTE modem is on ALL the time. Is that going to be a problem?
Appreciate any insight here. Thank you.
Don’t think the lte modem provides a wifi network so your GX display wouldn’t have a ip that would be browsable over the internet via port forwarding
You would need an lte modem that has an access point built in. You would also need to a ddns service as I imagine the lte service ip would change frequently if you wanted to access it away from the rv
You can enable the Wifi AP of the Cerbo itself, then connect the tablet to that instead of the starlink Wifi
Are you sure that will work if Cerbo is connected to an active cellular modem connection with Internet? Sorry, I’m not at the site currently. And to Bah434x, I probably wasn’t clear. I realize this won’t work over the Internet, I just want the screen to work locally when I don’t have Starlink up and running.
Yes, im using it like that, 4G GSM/GPS Adapter from Victron over USB connected, Cerbo-S makes its own Wifi AP, old phone running the GX display app connected to the Cerbo Wifi.
Im not sure if the Cerbo can also connect to another Wifi as a client at the same time. You may need to deactivate its own AP before it can connect to one itself

Thanks you chrigu. So in theory then, all I’d have to do is go into the settings on the tablet GX WiFi Display app and change the network after I boot up Starlink and it will continue to work, right?
But only if you need to disable the cerbos own wifi. Its possible that it can provide its own AP and connect to the starlink wifi simultaneously, but im not sure. Of it can then you dont need to change the wifi on the display, just let it always connect to the cerbos own
