GX Dashboard shows EVCS instead of VM-3P75CT L1/L2/L3 bubbles

1I have a Cerbo GX (v3.75) with a VM-3P75CT configured as an AC meter. The meter is working correctly and I can see all values in the Device List, VRM and VictronConnect.

My issue is only with the GX Dashboard.

Instead of showing the L1/L2/L3 load bubbles from the VM-3P75CT, the dashboard shows an EVCS tile (I do not own an EV charger) and only a single AC Loads bubble.

Things I have already tried:
• Rebooted the Cerbo GX.
• Deleted and re-added the VM-3P75CT.
• Deleted the AC Meter device and allowed it to be rediscovered.
• Confirmed the meter is online and reporting correctly.
• Updated to the latest firmware (v3.75).

Has anyone seen this before, or know what causes the dashboard to show the EVCS tile instead of the three AC load bubbles?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One additional observation:

After rebooting the Cerbo GX, the GX Dashboard briefly displays the AC Loads correctly as separate L1, L2 and L3 bubbles.

Within a few seconds, it changes back to a single AC Loads bubble where only L1 is shown, and the displayed total equals L1 only instead of the sum of all three loads.

At the same time, the EVCS tile appears, even though no EV charger is installed.

What are you using to show the various screens? eg browser, GX Touch, app, etc? Just wondering about the shape of the displays as some stuff looks cut off.

Do you have a second way to see what is happening on your Cerbo? Wondering if the problem is with how the Cerbo is displaying on your phone.

No, it is configured as an AC Load meter, as intended for my installation.

I did try changing it to Grid Meter as a test. The dashboard then displays the L1, L2 and L3 bubbles (and still phantom EVCS), but the total still only equals L1 and ignores L2 and L3.

I changed it back to AC Load because this is an off-grid system with a generator only, so the VM-3P75CT is monitoring my AC loads, not the grid.

Sorry, I missed that and even looked at that screen - gotta have my morning coffee!

What do you have for inverters?

e.g. one inverter AC Out has a single L1 phase, so maybe that’s why you’re seeing just L1 ?

I have a single MultiPlus 24/5000 (single-phase) inverter.

The VM-3P75CT is being used to monitor three separate AC loads, not a three-phase inverter.

What makes me think this isn’t expected behaviour is that the dashboard is inconsistent. Sometimes it shows only L1, sometimes L1/L2/L3 (but the total equals only L1), and sometimes it even shows a phantom EVCS. The GX Touch, Remote Console and VRM dashboard also don’t always agree.

So I think the meter data is being interpreted incorrectly somewhere rather than this simply being a single-phase inverter limitation.

How is the VM-3P75CT connected to the Cerbo? I assume VE.CAN.
Have you confirmed everything is right in the Cerbo Settings->Devices menu? and any integrations settings?

Sorry… am a bit out of ideas.

Maybe it’s confused by only L1 phase coming from MultiPlus, and L2, L3 coming from somewhere else (grid?).

Yes, the VM-3P75CT is connected via VE.Can.

I checked Settings → Devices and the relevant integration/settings pages. As far as I can see, everything looks normal:

  • VM-3P75CT is detected on VE.Can
  • It is configured as an AC Meter / AC Load meter
  • AC input 1 is set as Generator
  • AC input 2 is Not available
  • Position of AC loads is AC output only
  • Digital I/O is disabled
  • No EVCS is configured anywhere that I can find

The meter values themselves look correct in the device list / VictronConnect.

The problem seems to be only how the GX/VRM dashboard displays or interprets the meter.

Just to clarify the wiring, this is not a 3-phase inverter system.

I have a single 24/5000 MultiPlus feeding one AC output into a sub-board. From that sub-board it splits into three separate load circuits, which the VM-3P75CT measures using its three CT channels:

  • L1 = Main house
  • L2 = Outbuilding 1
  • L3 = Outbuilding 2

So all three measured circuits are downstream of the same MultiPlus AC output. The meter is not measuring separate inverter phases or grid phases.

Update: I found another clue. I only have one physical VM-3P75CT and the Cerbo only shows one active AC meter. But each time I change the VM-3P75CT role/configuration, VRM “creates” a new VM-3P75CT device with the same serial number and firmware, but a different instance. The old one becomes stale and can be deleted.

The dashboard still only shows Total/L1 and not Total with L1/L2/L3.

So it looks like VRM may be creating stale/duplicate meter records when the VM-3P75CT configuration changes.

Measuring 3 independent loads on a single phase isn’t a supported configuration, as far as I know.

e.g. I think the unit works by measuring difference voltage between the 3-phases and neutral on a 3-phase system, when it is configured as a 3 phase device.

That’s what puzzles me. The VM-3P75CT is correctly measuring and reporting all three loads to the Cerbo, and at one stage the VRM dashboard did briefly show three separate load bubbles (L1/L2/L3). It later reverted to showing only Total and L1 without me changing the wiring.

Also, while troubleshooting I noticed another odd behaviour. Every time I change the VM-3P75CT role (AC Output / Grid / PV etc.), VRM creates a new VM-3P75CT device with the same serial number and firmware but a different instance. The old one becomes stale and can be deleted. The Cerbo itself still only shows one active AC meter.

That makes me wonder whether this is a VRM/device registration issue rather than a measurement issue.

I also think that you use it in a way that isn’t intended, so you won’t get a “correct” visualization of your system.

You are measuring 3 different load on L1 not L1, L2 and L3.

Also the dashboard is (currently) not designed to show multiple separate tiles for different loads.

Wrt the EVCS did you maybe set the role of the meter als EVCS during testing?
Go to the device list in VRM and delete all unused “devices” that should clean up the dashboard.

However, the VM-3P75CT is correctly measuring all three loads, and the Cerbo shows only one active AC meter. I also deleted all stale VM-3P75CT device entries from VRM. Only one VM-3P75CT remains now, but the dashboard still only shows Total and L1.

What makes me think this may be a VRM issue is that, shortly after installing the VM-3P75CT, the dashboard briefly displayed three separate load bubbles (L1/L2/L3). Nothing changed in the wiring, but it later reverted to only Total and L1.

Also, the Victron documentation itself shows the dashboard displaying three separate load bubbles (attached screenshot). Is there a specific requirement or configuration that enables this view?

With regards to the EVCS, yes, I did temporarily set the meter role to EVCS while troubleshooting. However, I have since:

  • restored the VM-3P75CT to the correct role,
  • deleted all stale VM-3P75CT device entries created during testing,
  • confirmed that the Cerbo now shows only one active VM-3P75CT.

Despite that, the VRM dashboard still displays the EVCS tile, and still only shows Total and L1 for the AC loads.

What you might have seen was a normal ESS with a tile for the grid meter, one for normal loads (connected to AC IN) and “critical loads” (connected to the AC OUT).

But you want multiple AC load tiles on the AC OUT and that’s not possible (right now).

That explains why I only end up with a single AC load tile.

Out of curiosity, is support for displaying multiple AC Load meters on the dashboard something that’s on Victron’s roadmap? I can’t imagine I’m the only user using a VM-3P75CT to monitor multiple independent loads.

The meter allows an AC Load role, so I was wondering where that information is intended to be visualised. Is the VRM dashboard simply not designed for it yet, with Node-RED/custom GUI being the only option?

Regarding the duplicate devices:

Every time I change the VM-3P75CT role (e.g. AC Load ↔ Grid Meter), VRM creates a new device entry instead of updating the existing one. Both entries have the same serial number and firmware version, with only the most recently configured one remaining active. Screenshot attached showing duplicate devices.

Is this the expected behaviour, or should the existing device simply be updated when the role changes?

Regarding the phantom EVCS tile:

During troubleshooting I temporarily configured the VM-3P75CT with the EVCS role. I have since restored the correct role and deleted all stale VM-3P75CT device entries, but the EVCS tile still remains on the VRM dashboard. Screenshot attached showing the EVCS tile still present despite the VM-3P75CT no longer being configured as an EVCS.

Is there a way to remove it, or should it disappear automatically after some time?
