Generator shows as stopped when running

When runnning a generator on a boat through a Quattro, if the generator is started from its own panel, the generator shows as stopped in the VRM generator box, but shows current generated etc, however, if started from the Victron display controls or remotely through VRM, it shows as running.

We have wired a digital input to show the genrator as running, which works.

Is there anyway to get the box to show running when the generator is running, but started from its own panel?

The below image is when the generator is running and started on the Victron display. Haven’t captured a screenshot when started from generator panel and it shows stopped.

Where does the signal for the digital input come from?
You don’t want to have to use the digital input anymore ? or do I not understand the question correctly ?

When the generator is started on its own control panel, the Quattro only recognises the voltage and frequency … but cannot derive any information for “generator started” from this.
The digital input would also be my solution …

The signal for the DI comes from the generator itself. This works, but only shows up in the Device List, does not do anything more than that.

Yes, even though we have a generator running signal, the generator shows as stopped when it is started from the generators own panel. However, when started remotely via VRM or the Victron Display, it shows as running.

I think this is a bug once the Generator Start/Stop features are enabled in the Cerbo, it only recognises the running signal if started via the Cerbo.

Are you using an official (which) or a beta version?

Am seeing this issue on an off-grid system as well at the moment - so your not alone

This is expected behavior for a stock system. Kevin Windrem’s Guimods fixes this and makes several other system enhancements as well.

GUImods is not compatible with GUI 2.0 as far as I’m aware.

Furthermore, I’m not putting GUImods on a customers system.

Why can’t a fix be implemented such that when a DI sees that input that is nominated as generator, it show the generator as running?

@mpvader

You are partially correct, in that guimods VISUAL enhancements are not compatible with guiv2, but the functional enhancements such as under the hood generator service enhancements, are compatible with both gui’s.

Regardless, given the fact that it is a customer system, I wouldn’t run modifications on it either. I do remember one of the recent firmware notes did make mention of this particular issue with the generator running status being updated. Maybe someone from victron can chime in and give some clarity.
