Feature request virtual devices

Hi.

Hi. I’ve just been playing around with the new Virtual Indicators. I think the concept is great, and I’ve already got a few ideas for what can be done with them. I think it would be nice if they could also be made visible on the Brief Page. For example, I’d like to display the duty cycle of a fan—which is controlled via PWM based on temperature—as a percentage. It would be great if you didn’t have to open the Switch Pane just to see that information.

For years, Victron simply does not like to give us freedom to modify their static, old-fashioned main dashboards. :frowning:
I fully support that request!

I appreciate the consistency of the UI between all installations.
For everything custom there is Home Assistent or Grafana.

Not to mention that VRM is free for everyone.

How many users have Grafana or Homeassistant?
Or at least any device they could use as server?
Consistency may be good for the manufacturer and installers (like you?), but for normal people, just wanting to see, for example, their current heatpump power shown on the start screen?

You have seen How to create GUIv2 UI Plugins · victronenergy/gui-v2 Wiki · GitHub ?

Currently it’s not possible to add a custom page to the main navigation bar, but you can add a custom page under the Integration page.

Dear Dirk-Jan!

It’s all about the START page. Not to navigate around to see the data you always want to see.
And it’s a difference when we are talking about people like me or about others.
Yes, I can do such, and have Homeserver with HomeAssistant, NodeRed and Dashboards, etc.
But for “normal users” (e.g.: my grandpa, and a couple in our neighborhood), all these workaround are much too complex and they are: very inconvenient.

Btw., i never understood why Victron is so … (stubborn? Sorry.) when it comes to the GUI, given what a good and versatile thing Venus-OS is otherwise. OS Large, etc., perfect.
And then comes a thing named “New UI”, and what to we get? More or less the same outdated fixed “energy flow” design, just with a little more modern optics. ?!?

So, can I take your answer as:
“Additional items on the Startpage (especially user-configured) won’t be adressed by Victron for the foreseeable time” ?

One other idea: with the CPU power of Ekrano, could it be possible (in the far future) to render a webpage on the GX screen by default, instead of your GUI? So one could build a NodeRed dashboard, so it would be totally free to modify, and Victron would just provide the web-rendering in Venus-OS? Or will this eat to much performance, even with the Quad-core?
