Feature Request: Tank input on BMV-712 Aux Input

Hey There,

A bit of an odd one maybe, maybe not.

I have a BMV-712 Smart in the back of my Jeep. It monitors a 12v battery nicely which also has a SmartSolar coupled with a solar panel on the roof and an older Orion 12/12-9 (because the new ones won’t work as chargers) to charge while driving. Currently as it’s a lithium setup and the BMS in the battery handles low temp cut-off I don’t have a temp sensor fitted and the aux sensor is spare. I also have an LPG tank in the back for our Weber Q when we head away. Right now I have no good way of knowing how much is left in the tank.

I had this crazy? idea that I could use one of my spare Safiery Ultrasonic Tank Sensors with my LPG tank that is also in the back, hooked up to the “aux” port to give me an accurate level of the tank.

This would require an update to the BMV firmware to use the “aux” port to read “tank level” based on a voltage input from the Safiery sensor - it looks like the resolution goes to two decimal places which would be fine for this application. In the meantime I was going to set it to “starter battery” and just do the 0-100% conversion in my head, but it seems, on the face of it, to add a feature to monitor a voltage based tank sensor via this input wouldn’t be too hard.

Be keen to know if this is something you would consider?

Cheers,
