Dear Victron team,
I would like to suggest a new feature for the generator control in the Venus GX (and other GX devices).
It would be very helpful to have predefined templates for common generator-control scenarios. Instead of configuring all conditions manually, users could select a template and only adjust a few key parameters.
Examples of useful templates:
-
Time-based run: Start and run the generator for a set duration on demand or by schedule.
-
SOC-based with hysteresis: Start at X % SOC and stop at Y % SOC.
-
Peak-shaving: Start when the load exceeds a certain power threshold for a defined period.
-
Quiet-hours / peak-hours: Restrict generator operation during night or quiet periods.
-
Maintenance mode: Run the generator once a month for 10–15 minutes to keep it in good condition.
Key benefits:
-
Easier setup for non-technical users – saves time and reduces misconfiguration.
-
Consistent and predictable operation – templates ensure correct hysteresis, minimum run times, etc.
-
Better generator utilization – automatic maintenance runs extend generator life.
-
Improved safety and stability – lowers the risk of frequent start/stop cycles or low-load running due to configuration errors.
-
Faster troubleshooting – users can see which template is active and which parameters have been changed.
-
Enhanced user experience – makes Venus GX more attractive for both residential/off-grid users and professionals.
I believe this addition would make generator control in the GX devices more user-friendly, reliable, and appealing.
Thank you for considering this request, and I appreciate all the work you do on making Victron products better every day.
