I’m having a problem with my EV Car charger drawing power from my battery during a scheduled charge between 02.00 - 05.00 when tariff is 6c per KW. How do i stop this from happening to ensure only the grid import is used?
How can i schedule my batteries to charge at the low tariff rate? I am currently in DESS Green mode with all setting and prices entered. I added a picture to sum up the charging habit of my system.
Easy first switch off DESS as I found it drawing from the grid outside of the cheap tariff window and just use ESS. Just rely on the schedule charging instead. If this is not a Victron EV charger simply monitor grid input after the charger, make the charger the first part of the installation. See vid for more clarification on a hardware level fix
A technical solution to handle this easy would be to put your EVCS on ACIN and configure the Inverter to only support loads on AC-OUT from battery.
If your whole house is connected to ACIN only, you could think about to install the Venus Large image, enable Node-Red and then write a quite simple flow to change that setting for your desired time. Then, energy supply for the whole household would come from grid during that time - but if you seek to drain 11kW you probably won’t mind if it’s gonna be 11.3 kW
Or you could also use Node-Red to change the maximum inverter power down to 300 watt for that time, etc.
Other than that, there are things to come during 3.80 that will solve your issue as well.
