How do I stop my EVCS from charging the from battery over night?

Ive have 3 x Multiplus II 5000 and an EVCS on the AC out side. Running DESS the system is trying to control the house battery and topping up the battery when the price is lowest in the night. Everything works great, until my car starts charging, again in the night because my car is reading the prices as well. The system allows the EVCS to use the house battery, even though DESS is on and needs a goodly amount of charge in the morning because the electric price at 8am is high. it’s almost like the EVCS is fighting with DESS for the battery energy when in fact I want the EVCS to use the grid!!

To stop this from happening, I have to raise the minimum battery capacity, in DESS to over the current percentage which forces the inverters to stop using the battery and makes the car charge from the grid. The problem is, that interferes with normal DESS operation.

How do I make the EVCS charge from the grid at night and not use the battery?

Do you have a gridmeter? Put the EVCS on AC-in and self-consumption from battery on: only critical loads.

Hi Tom, thanks taking the time to reply!

Thats really interesting, actually I don’t have a meter no, I rely on the inverters to meter the usage and as such, I don’t have the Self consumption from battery option in the settings.

Do you have the same setup as me and are able to charge in the night without using the battery?

I’ll order a meter anyway.

If you don’t have an external meter, you don’t get the option self-consumption from battery

I use a VM-3P75CT as grid meter

With an external meter and EVCS on AC-in, you can choose how to charge your EV. Self-consumption from battery on: all system loads, the EV will be charged form the battery. With: only critical loads, the EV will be charged from the grid.

Thats exactly what I need! Meter ordered.

Once the meter is installed, and the EVCS is on the AC In side, can I still use Auto mode on the EVCS in the summer to charge from excess solar?

I think so, I don’s use Auto mode
