EM530 connection issues

I have purchased a EM530DINAV53XS1PFA. I realise copying the manufacture code from victron meter selection that I should have a EM530DINAV53XS1X. I’d appreciate knowing if this is the likely cause of my troubles…

I can connect to the EM530DINAV53XS1PFA via RS485 and the Gavazzi Configuration software. The RS485 is at default settings 9600 baud, address 1.

I have a 100a:1a ratio CT clamp on phase 1, that is measuring correctly.

Via the same FTDI RS485 adapter I’ve connected it to the CerboGX USB ports. The lights flash every so often, but the RX/TX lights on the EM530 only briefly come on.

Under Energy meters in the GX, it detects:

under the settings for it

However, it does not have any readings, and does not appear under device list.

It does detect the serial port under /dev… when i log in as root.

Any further advice?

The energy meter list from victron specifically says the EM530DINAV53XS1X (only selected models are supported)

Is your cable too long?

Did you also try with a terminator on it?

It does specifically say that. I unfortunately fell victim to eBays non-exact search… as I searched for the X variant. I’ve just purchased it anyway… I’ve been struggling with this for too long. I originally bought Victrons 3 phase version which is brilliant… except the clamps don’t fit the meter and it is only rated to 80A… I’m not sure who was responsible for this in their engineering dept… but it is a major fail in my books… Why you can’t have clamps with different ratios / sizes… etc is beyond me… it is a good product crippled by an oversight!

The ‘XS1X’ variant just worked straight away, so that was the problem
