Eleven Energy/Volta Sodium Ion battery with MultiPlus-II?

Any hopes that the MultiPlus-II would work with the Volta Sodium Ion battery?

The battery data sheet shows an operating range of 33V - 59.2V, which is well outside the MP2’s operating range of 38 – 66 V, at least on the low end.

So undoubtedly the MP2 would need some update to accommodate it. But I wondered if it was a physical/electrical limit, or more of a software/firmware limit.

Any insight or experience? Or plans for future updates?

It is not a software restriction, though some features, like ESS do further reduce the range.

Sodium batteries are very niche, it would be unlikely to see anyone investing time in accommodating them.

That large voltage range is also the biggest drawback of the sodium batteries. You really need to adapt the DC wiring to the 25% higher current compared to lithium based batteries at the low end of the voltage range.

I have just been wondering exactly the same thing: can I use a Sodium-Ion battery with a MultiPlus-II.

Sodium-Ion might be niche at the moment, but as costs come down, it seems like it will take-off, particularly as sodium is so abundant.

It is a shame that it is going to require more than just a software change - hopefully manufactures are starting to think about the evolution of their products to support Sodium-Ion in the future.

“On April 21, during the CATL Tech Day event, CATL announced that its sodium-ion batteries will enter mass production by 2026.”

Might there be any update on this? It looks to me that the future will be Sodium batteries for the next decade?

Maybe the Multiplus (I) is motre suitable?
