Easy Solar 12/1600/70 and lithiu,

Hi everyone : on my boat I have an Easy Solar 12/1600/70 (old version) , a smart shunt and a colour control. My old AGM batteries are dying I would like to replace them with Lithium (looking at SANFOU batteries). Can i just swap them ? Do I need anything else ? I guess the default charging voltage is not ideal for Lithium but as the batteries are coming with integrated BMS it should be fine, right ? My Color control allows me to see the settings but I can’t change charging voltage or anything.

Thank you for your help!

No, you need to adjust the charging settings for lithium.

See if this manual , page 24, is of any help.

Thank you for your answer. I’m sorry I’m a bit confused, I’m totally new to that device. It’s mentioning a rotary switch, I imagine that I have to open the front panel to access it ?
Also this manual is for the 24v version right ?

I’m sorry, after looking into it you can’t adjust the inverter to lithium with just the controls available.

The easysolar is 2 devices in one, both need to be set to lithium.

The inverter itself can be programmed with VE configure but i don’t know if it has a lithium preset and i don’t know what cable you need to program it. The manual doesn’t mention the MK3-USB cable but it probably works. If there is no lithium preset you can set the voltages manually.

Alternatively you can check if the dipswitch setting for OPzV batteries on the inverter has a usable voltage for your lithium battery.

The integrated MPPT solar charger can be set to lithium with the rotary switch mentioned in the manual. Indeed the inverter needs to be opened to access this.

The manual is for both the 12V and 24V versions.

Thank you for your help!

I don’t really get that setup : what I had on my old boat was way less fancy but so much easier.
Like, what’s the point of the Color Control if it can’t actually adjust voltage and change charging values ?

So, yes, I see the little switch at the bottom of the MPPT. That’s easy.

But for the rest, Inverter and charging while plugged at the pier. I’m not sure how to set that up. I don’t even know if the EasySolar can be connected to the MK3-USB (the Color Control can but I’m not sure it would help).

The color control is only for system monitoring and adjusting basic settings.

Advanced settings are done in veconfig, maybe a local victron dealer can help you out?
