Dynamic power limiting behavior

After upgrading from Venus OS v3.70~23 to v3.70~27 I noticed that the Dynamic power limiting of my SolarEdge PV inverter would become active when the grid price is zero or negative. It appears to limit the inverter just enough to keep the grid consumption at zero although I’m running DESS in trade mode.

What is the logic behind this? It is nice that the PV is throttled, but why isn’t the PV shut down completely when the grid price is negative? Why compensate your consumption with PV when you get paid to use electricity from the grid?

And another question: why is the PV limiter set to 1.5% during the night?

That one is beeing developed. It requires a lot of deep changes throughout the whole system and multiple device-firmwares to overwrite an otherwise all-time-goal of maximizing solar-yield whenever possible. So, it will take some time to be released finally.

Yes, that is the “first level” so to say. (Avoid you have to pay for feedin, when prices are negative). I’tll be replaced with an (optional) complete shutdown of PV.
(Mind that even if it is beneficial from a monetary point of view, some people, especially those running green mode, may still consider it “greener” to use PV to cover consumption over getting payed for grid-pull as Grid usually never is “100% renewable energy” despite a negative price)

Yes, I can imagine that you don’t want to shut down PV completely in green mode, only in trade mode. Personally, I don’t want to limit PV at all unless the grid price is a few cents negative, especially while the salderingsregeling is still in place. I’m not sure whether I will be able to fully compensate my yearly consumption with PV, and it is better to pay a small amount per kWh instead of paying tax at the end of the year. I could do this by adding a small amount to the price, but it would be nice to have a separate setting for it.

For now, I would like to continue using my red-node flow to limit PV myself, so I’ve disabled the Dynamic power limiting. However, at the end of each day the SolarEdge resets the Modbus connection to the Cerbo and after it reconnects, the PV limiter is activated again (with a 1.5% limit!), although the setting in the GUI still says disabled. This prevents me from controlling the limiter myself. I have to first enable and than disable the GUI setting to disable the limiter again (for a day).
