Dynamic ESS for UK Octopus users now on regular VRM

No… I think that’s your own address. Mine is different.

Hello again,

I have some feedback on the functionality of DESS. I’m afraid it’s becoming unusable at this stage. The system is not making any effort to cover consumption during the peak price periods.

I’ve checked this time and the grid setpoint wasn’t tampered with, am I doing something wrong?

Is there any news on being able to pull charging sessions on Intelligent Octopus Go ?
I’m currently on IOG. The pricing and VRM sets the current 7p/kWh and 23:30 - 05:50 timeslot fine.

But if I plug my car in during the day and Octopus provide a charging session, strange things happen! It looks like some information is available via the API as VRM does initiate charging / pulling from the grid during the charging session. However, this doesn’t always seem accurate. For example, just today, I had a charging session. The system starting pulling from the grid. The charging session ended, but VRM continues to say take from the grid when I’m now paying the higher price.

In any case, the price is not updated so the numbers are completely off even when the scheduling does appear to work.

Am I missing something?

Not sure if this is already a feature and its simply a case of misconfiguration…

When the Octopus rate drops below 0, DESS should automatically charge batteries (up to 100%).

As an enhancement suggestion, it would be great to specify a price which, if equal or less, causes the batteries to be charged. For example, I may be happy to charge my batteries whenever the price drops below a certain cost.
