Dynamic ESS export limit not working?

Started Dynamic ESS and activated it, did put a selling price formula so that it started to cell at certain price, for example if price exceeds 15s/kWh.

I did put under DESS “System” settings “Maximum Export Power” = 5.0kW

Upon activation it clearly overshot the limit, exporting something like 5.5kW which exceeds my contract, cannot export more than 5kW.

I limited the “Grid current limit” under Multiplus settings to get it under control.

What might I be doing wrong here?

After the defined period ended the DESS started to BUY from grid although I set “Maximum import power” to ZERO! Like what…

I don´t have a smart BMS on batteries if this has something to do with it.

The DESS settings do not actually set any limits. They’re meant to tell the DESS algorithm about limits of your system, for its calculations/projections. So the DESS settings will need to match whatever equivalent settings you configure in Venus.

So the “Grid current limit” under MP2 settings is the only viable option to curb excess export? I am mostly selling from BATTERY so I guess the “feed in excess” options are not for me, these should be in case of lot of PV coming in?

You should align the parameters you set in the DESS with the actual power output of your system. The parameters in the DESS only serve as a basis for the DESS calculations. Your charging and discharging performance can depend on many parameters and vary from system to system. Limiting factors can include the installed storage system, the installed inverter (MP2), the DVCC settings, the settings of the respective BMS, and grid limitations. Because these parameters vary so much from system to system, it’s important to enter reasonably realistic values when configuring the DESS. Otherwise, the entire system won’t function.
