Double multiplus 2

Hello. I have already a multiplus 2 since late 2022. it’s a PMP482505010

I ordered another one recently, and i searched one with the same PN than the first one.

Sadly, i received today the new one and it has a PN as PMP482505012 :((

By chance is there is some compatibility between those two please?

I think i rode something about the 4 first digit of the serial number to compare with?

my old one begin by HQ22, and the new one is HQ25.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

Best regards

If you are wanting to parallel them the aging of the components would make the endeavour not worth it.
Even if you found an exact new boxed model.
Effectively you won’t be double the power.

It needs to be the same in HQ and HW revision and same chip

What do you actually need to power? A higher peak load or just more loads?

Ah! Thank you LX for your answer. I need to be more accurate it seems ^^.

I never used the first multiplus 2. I moved house, so i’m in the way to put my PV field and my system ON. I just envisionned the sytem in december 2022 and bought the materiaIs. I just charged my batteries 2 times, and updated the firmware of the multiplus. So the component are as good as new. It has never been on duty.

I want to power my house, the most of it. I have 6k max of PV production. and 14kwh of pylonteck batteries.

My wife just bought an electric car, and 4000W with a unique multiplus 2 seems a bit… low for the rest of the house.

Someone?

It is not likely that they will be compatible.

Usually we (in our installations) don’t go more than 6 months in production apart because of hardware revisions.

Sometimes as a work around you split the DB and work it that way.

@lxonline Just a side note. The concern I have with this limitation overall is if you have a large parallel system with a number of units and a single unit or even more fails after a year or so, it suggests if you cannot get a replacement (system board) and your whole system will be at risk of potentially have to be replaced? Far from ideal and not a risk I want to be exposed to. (To be honest, I have never seen an actual HW failure to date that was not caused by e.g. water or critter ingress and have customers with 18 year old HW still operating reliably)

@DoD The **512 and 510 are the same models I understood with one just indicating a different market/warehouse possibly it was destined for and something I think Matthias Lange mentioned in a post at some point. but I stand to be corrected. Maybe worth exploring the larger 10 kVA model with also less complexity and less to go wrong. The Victron prices today are very reasonable having had very favourable adjustments of up to 40% to be very per kW competitive and you can even recover some of your initial outlay selling the other unit.
