I guess you are stuck on the IP22 rating that others have decided to strawman as well. Its a IP43 rated unit; it’s even on the product name and printed large and clearly on the face of the unit.
I wasn’t hung ip on either, Ip22 or ip43 the water comes from 15° or 60° from vertical meaning the water sprays down or from slightly across and down.
The connections are on the bottom, the water would have wicked upwards and into the unit, which is not covered by IP testing in the 22 or 43 range.
There definitely must be a combination of a few possibly small unfortunate factors combined to end up with several non working (or weird operating) units on one install. Environmental related, maybe there needs to be some added ventilation on the install enclosure to clear out hot moisture rich air.
And wicking has destroyed many a sealed enclosure, ask audi about their sealed ECUs and where that wicked from. Its a pretty incredible process (from a science point of view), doesn’t require submersion in a liquid to occur. Pretty inconvenient for other things.
Why are you assuming that the cables were sitting in water? Being in a humid environment is not the same thing. Your wicking example, even with Audi or Mercedes was with a cable sitting in a fluid. You are making a lot of assumptions here. I guess it is expected in a victron forum.
Dear experts. May I humbly suggest you let this topic die? We know there are some individuals who have an axe to grind and are never going to accept anything they weren’t willing to hear. It does sound like his reseller did not handle this properly, but no other amount of explanation is going to be satisfactory to this person. I had considered suggesting ways this person could easily and cost-effectively prevent something like this from happening, but it was clear early on that he only wanted to vent. He’s vented. Please let him get on with his life.
