My Multiplus II has stopped working because some electronics inside have rusted due to the sea breeze in the area.
Unfortunately, the installer (a Victron certified installer) is saying the warranty is void because of this, but they installed the system in this area; surely it’s up to them to ensure they install products that are going to last in the local they install them!
This is the statement from the war
“This warranty will be considered void if the unit has suffered any physical damage or alteration, either internally or externally, and does not cover damages arising from improper use, like: • Reversed battery polarity. • Inadequate connection. • Mechanical shock or deformation. • Contact with liquid or oxidation by condensation. • Use in an inappropriate environment (dust, corrosive vapour, humidity, high temperature, biological infestation, etc.).”
I would expect an installer to advise you of the risks, and to rather use a quattro. But from a repair perspective the manufacturer won’t honour corrosion that is so severe.
Considering these are products that are used successfully in marine applications and coastal environments, why your environment is so different is not something the community can determine over the internet.
The system is only 4 years old and has already been replaced once under Warranty.
We’re in Sub-Saharan Africa, on the cost, so very humid, very hot.
I get its a standard part of the warranty, I just assumed that a Victron Certified installer would not install a product in a way which invalidated the warrantee,
to be honest that was kind of the whole reason i went with a certified installer was to insure the warrantee was all good
