DESS originally planned to charge the battery from the grid for 3 hours from 13:00-16:00. This was done for the first two hours (13:00-15:00), but from 15:00 the system suddenly stopped charging from grid and discharged the battery!
The schedule for charging the battery was then pushed back by DESS by 1 hour to 16:00-17:00, but again the battery was not charged but discharged!
The new prices were already available before. The plan to charge the battery from grid for 3 hours was already based on these new prices.
I observed this closely: DESS planned to charge for 3h, but only charged for 2h. The charging plan for the third hour was available for the whole hour, but charging was not actually carried out. In other words, the plan was in place but was not adhered to.
After this hour, i.e. at 16:00, the plan was changed by DESS so that charging should take place from 1600-1700. But even this plan was not actually carried out. Despite the existing plan, there was in fact no charging from the grid from 1600 to 1700.
The existing DESS plan for chargimg from grid was really not implemented. But the plan was really there for the whole hour.
The planning was good, but the charging didn’t take place.
Hi grua, I had very similar DESS behaviour few day ago. Its plan to charge batts from grid has been moved over 2 hours forward. I think it was caused by DESS “believe” , the batts still can be charged from the sun, therefore system delayed initially planned loading from grid for next hours. Finally the system attempted to load as planned previously , the only side effect of this shift was a bit higher buy price. I wanted to report this as well, but I gave up considering that DESS did its job at the end .
Thank you for this information! Let’s keep an eye on this and report back here if it happens again!
However, I am very surprised that the plan to charge the battery was continuously displayed in the energy graph for the entire hour, even though the battery was not charged. If the plan was actually changed then this should have been shown in the graph. (And yes, I have updated the graph several times).
So it’s still not completely consistent.
Unfortunately, Victron obviously doesn’t think it’s serious enough to look into it…
HI well, again the same behaviour today. Acu charge scheduled for min buy price , but not executed. Acu charge moved to next hour slot and then to next when the buy price is doubled vs min price . Question to Victron why the DESS logic is not executing originally reasonable , its own , plan ???
HI @dfaber , your response would be appreciated , as I noticed over last month a number of inconsistencies between system’s “Plan” and “Execution” .
This is just from today : Plan to load batteries when price is low,
