Creating own control system for SmartSolar Charge Controller

Hello!

I am part of a student organization and we are setting up a grid to collect data and experience around setting up off-grid microgrids. We are thinking of using Victron components because from the looks of it, we can customize a lot of the components’ settings online.

We are creating a MPPT-control system and we were wondering if anyone has knowledge of/has used another control system and used the VE.Direct communication port to dynamically change the voltage over the pv-panels which are connected to the Charge Controller? Is this possible?

By using the Victron component we wanted to be able to turn off the mppt-system when our own system is ready after we’ve already set up the grid.

Do I understand you correctly you want to changed the way the device tracks the solar?

Not sure how deep ypu are into it, but you can write your own firmware and load it onto the device. And no i don’t have experience doing that.
