Is there any way of controlling the input current from the grid to the AC IN without including the PV when it is also connected to the AC IN?
If you want to reduce the charge current of the MP2 while no PV power is available on AC In, then you can reduce the grid input current limit of your MP2.
You can do this in the remote console in the settings of the MP2 or in VRM while using the config-switch in the upper right corner.
I used this once to charge my batteries a little bit from grid with reduced power. But it has some other effects, so I changed it back for normal operation the next day.
Yes, I use it too and I find the function very useful, but I wanted to limit the current from the electricity grid because the power is limited, but not from solar power and I don’t want to keep changing it all the time.
Well, I did not check all the scenarios, but I think this is working like you expect it. The MP2 will only pull the allowed limit from grid. But as soon as PV power is available, this will be added on top.
This is one of the major advantage of victron.
My problem was (as far as I remember) that in such a case with limited grid power to e.g. 6A, the grid feed in also was limited.
But try this when PV power is available and tell us the result.
Edit:
I just see, that we might have different setups running… I run a standard ESS system and I have an energy meter on my grid input and also for every AC-In connected PV system.
So in my case the system is aware what is comming from the grid, and what is deliverd from the PV systems. What about your system?
