Controlled charging system

Hi All, I have a working system with 2xMP2, Pylontech battery and SmartSolar system.

Now during winter, I would like the system to ‘charge’ my batteries at a low charge current (max 2000W) from 30 up to 50%.

This way I prevent overload on the grid side, and keep my batteries healthy. I have enough with 50% SoC to make it to next morning.

Also, my minimum SoC is 20%, so then I fully connect to the grid. but then I need to avoid power peaking on ACout side, because if we use 15min more then 2500W from the grid, I have a higher power price to pay. with the help of my batteries I hope to avoid this.

Any ideas ? I am already starting to play with NodeRED, but I’m not able to figure out how to control the charger?

So, I also have ESS to inject y power to the grid. but when I activate the ‘charge schedul’e’ I’m not able to limit the charge power.

Look for „power assist“ in docs and VEconfigure

Power assist is not the real item I need. I have considered thsi already.

I want to charge my battery from the grid, with a maximum 2400W power, from 30% up to maximum 50%

so, whenever my SoC reaches 30%, this ‘limited’ charger has to start working.

once reached 50% it should stop charging.

This to avoid my battery to drop to 20%, but still leaves me for using battery power when I use high power for short time.

What i mostly look for, is the NodeRed function to activate my MP2 devices to start charging my natteries but at limited power (2500W max)

you need 2 ations:

First, set max charge power to 2400W

Second, set desired SOC higher, so charging starts

Lok at the Node “Settings Control” - then select venus settings

Looks like you will have to give max Ampere instead of max Watt, but that should be easy to calculate

But i think your logic is wrong, power assist is the right way - otherwise maybe the dishwasher runs and you are over the 2500W limit

Also, if you set desired SOC to 30 % - it will never drop to 20% as long as there is AC Feed in available
