Contribution censorship?

@guystewart and @mpvader
Last year I submitted in VRM beta section a contribution about VRM related solar forecast reliability. Since I perfomed a long-term forecast recording, I wanted to share an update today. However, I had to wonder that this submission obviously disappeared completly on official thread list as well as on my personal activity history.

Therefore I am asking, if you remove articles, which might not let look your products in perfect picture (even that my submission had only the prupose to improve your product)?
A clarification for all would be helpful.

Nothing constructive is ever removed, criticism is always welcome, within reason. Where that has happened the reason is obvious and usually communicated. When exactly did you post?

Then, may I ask where my topic ā€œPylontech efficiencyā€ had gone?
As it had tens of replies and users could form an image/opinion about round trip efficiency of LiFePO4 batteries, paired with Victron systems…
Indeed, it was about Pylontech, but batteries, in general, are an important part of the system, without which a Victron equipment cannot function.
So maybe a rename in Rountrip efficiency was in place, but not a delete.
Same old, same old…

Hi Nick,
Unfortunately I don’t have a system log available checking that, but surely you have.
Maybe you shoudl request @JohnC, who obviously deleted topics before seee: Deleted topic?

It was somewhen mid of last year. Barbara Jansink from Victron even anwered on that post.

To be honest, I am quite disappoined about current admin mentality censoring on that platform, considering not being relavant for community (read in another thread). My contribution did not contain any objective wording. However, even other members shared their experience about VRM PV forecast.

Might be ā€˜obvious’ to you, but I only revived that topic. I didn’t delete it, and in fact have NEVER deleted a legit running topic on this platform. I have no idea how it got deleted in the first place - and said so. Could have been the system even, I still don’t know.

You sure it wasn’t on the OLD Community portal? If on this one it should be in your own Activity log, and I can’t see anything there.

@alexpescaru If you can provide a link or a name to search for I’ll have a look. Again, this is most unlikely to be deliberate, The system here can do these things for spammers, etc., and it’s still learning. But getting better.

Hi @weichi,

I’ll found out what happened with your original topic and get back to you.

Generally speaking constructive criticism is welcome, especially so when someone has put time into it.

It’s not the policy to delete posts just because they are negative about the products. The opposite actually, we need those posts to help us find and fix issues which is one of the best outcomes for everyone of this community.

Hi @alexpescaru & @weichi,

I just spoke to the other moderators and we have just restored both of the posts mentioned. Apologies for the inconvenience. I don’t think either were done with any intent to ā€˜hide the horrible truth’ or anything.

While looking for these, I had a review of all the deleted topics, and 99.9% of the them are really just spam that somehow made it through. There is a very small number that are legitimate content, and then in most of those cases it was because of some topic restructuring where a conversation had diverged or converged.

I am quite confident that there isn’t some ā€˜bigger issue’ here, and don’t see any reason to take it any further.

Thank you and moderators for your efforts!

There is more…
Remember Nick @nickdb has made a topic about inverters imbalance and posted the flow.
There is still no trace of it…
And remember, at that point, in the late November, I’ve mention it…

The simple explanation is that I decided to clean up some of my own posts and ended up using an admin only feature, though I did not realise this at the time.
The side effect was discourse ended up removing whole topics and ones I only contributed to. It was not simple to trace this out so we have been reinstating the erroneously removed ones if someone notices and can point us in the direction of where to look. It was not malicious nor intentional.
