I want to use my Orion XS DCDC charger from my car’s alternator. The car is fitted with a lithium starter battery. (And to charge lithium batteries). Given the higher resting voltage of the lithium starter battery, is it possible to set the Orion up to detect when the car is started and stopped?
Maybe, but you will have a much smaller differential voltage range to set up the engine shutdown detection, so it may not be as clear cut. Without knowing alternator voltage general answers only. If there is any doubt consider wiring the remote on/off terminals to the ignition switch.
Thanks - I will use the remote on/off then. I did not have that ability on my previous set up as the Orion was in a slide on camper and I did not want to wire the ignition to the camper (I used a relay in the engine bay to connect the battery to the Orion only when the ignition was on.)
