I have been digging third party screen compatibility with Venus OS Gui V2.
There is two ways to do it :
If your screen supports backlight control, the fix should behave exactly like on the official screens.
If your screen does not support backlight control, the fix is less good because wake ups take several seconds for Gui V2 to reload, but could be enough for your need.
Information and installation guide are available in github.
The fixes should be quite universal but I can not guarantee it. If you can, please feed back here or with a github issue and specify your screen model, if it has backlight control or not, if the fix works or not, etc, so that I can update the compatibility table to help people buy compatible screens.
Hello Lucien,
Thanks a lot for the solution you propose for sleep mode. The Gui V2 workaroud works fine on my MPI5001 display.
After the time out selected by the display menu, the screen shut off. When you touch the screen again, the system makes a small restart (few seconds) and display the right venus page.

im pretty sure my screen has backlight control
i do not at all understand the instructions though, how do I access the folder and file to edit? can i get instructions for a total noob please?
this is the screen im using, its works great out of box with gui v2 except for the screen timeout
Regarding backlight, the description talks about “Backlight switch” which makes me think that it can not be controlled remotely. To test, as mentioned in the dedicated chapter, can you try and plug the screen on a computer to see if you can control it using window or any linux system ?
Also, so that I can add your screen on the compatibility page, can you ssh in your gx device and execute ‘dmesg | grep hid-generic‘ to get the model reference ?
