I recently installed a Cerbo GX and connected the data port to my Garmin 8600 series chart. All the instructions I can find say that a Victron logo should appear on the chart plotter screen. Nothing happens. I’ve checked different cables, different configurations, and the Cerbo GX says it’s connected to the LAN network. My chart plotter does not recognize it as being connected. Any help would be appreciated .
Did you follow the manual regarding MFD integration?
Yes. I’ve tried multiple RJ45 cables, both Garmin and standard network cables. The Cerbo GX indicates it’s connected to the Garmin network but it doesn’t show up as a connected device on the Garmin. According to the manual, I’m supposed to wait 10 seconds and a Victron icon will appear on the chart plotter.
And you used a direct connection, no router or something else inbetween? The Cerbos network port is set to automatic? Does it get an IP adress assigned from the Garmin MFD?
You do use the necessary adapter?
For the Ethernet connection, a Garmin adapter is required:
I’m connecting directly from the Cerbo to the Garmin with nothing in between. I didn’t see any requirement for an adapter?
The Cerbo is set to automatic and an address is assigned. Not sure if it makes a difference but in have the GX MK 2
This is what Victron indicates:
Easily integrated with Garmin
Victron Energy is now available on Garmin’s Multi Functional Display (MFD). And the installation is easy as 1-2-3. Simply connect a network cable between the MFD and the heart of Victron Energy’s solution (any GX device) and that’s it! Just tap the Victron icon to enjoy the ease of control that Victron Energy brings on board. Plug and play, no configuration or subscriptions needed.
Garmin says that a Marine Network PoE insulated coupler cable must be placed between the Cerbo GX MK2 and the GMS 10
Thank you! I’ll give it a try.
Curious where you found the information on the PoE adapter? I’ve been searching the internet and Garmin’s website for answers.
I call the Garmin assistance !!!
Got it. That was my next move but they are closed on the weekend.
