Victron Energy Temperature Sensor for Victron Energy BMV-702/712
My problem is that I cannot get the Victron Energy VE.Direct Cable from the shunt to the Cerbo GX MK2. The battery is on the tongue inside a heated metal battery box, and the rest of the Victron components are in the bedroom closet.
If I connect the shunt to VE.Smart networking, will the Gerbo GX MK2 receive the data and display it on the GX Touch 70 Display Screen?
Additionally, does the smart shunt work with the Victron Energy VE.Direct Smart Dongle (Bluetooth) - Wireless Monitoring for BMV & MPPT? (This would allow me to get the transmitter closer to the Gerbo GX MK2)
Or, should I replace the Temperature Sensor for Victron Energy BMV-702/712 with a Victron Energy Smart Battery Sense, Voltage and Temperature Sensor, Long Range (up to 10m)?
I have tried to research all of this on YT and through Victron support manuals and I am a new DIY’r. Thanks for any help!
No, the Cerbo is not VE.Smart Networking capable. Victron components must be physically wired to it.
Yes, the SmartShunt can be used with the VE.Direct Bluetooth Dongle to extend BT range… but, see above, that won’t solve the issue. Wired connection is necessary, no way around it.
The user manual for the Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT Tr VE. Can Solar Charge Controller (Bluetooth) - Charge Controllers for Solar Panels - 250V, 70 amp, 12/24/36/48-Volt states:
VE Smart Networking
The presence of the VE.Smart Networking symbol indicates that the solar charger is configured for VE.Smart Networking and is receiving battery temperature and/or battery voltage data from the VE.Smart Network.
If that is true, and if the solar charge controller is wired to the Cerbo GX MK2, wouldn’t the Bluetooth info received by the solar charge controller be transferred to the Cerbo and be displayed on the GX Touch 70 Display Screen? Thanks again.
