I have two house battery banks on my boat: 12V and 24V nominal. 12V bank provides power to the main DC panel. 24V bank provides power to the MultiPlus inverter/charger. I’d like to use Orion IP67 24/12 20A converter to tap into the 24V bank as a backup option for the DC panel if 12V battery gets discharged. The plan was to have the converter powered up when needed and then use a selector switch to pick power for the DC panel from either the 12V battery bank or the output of Orion IP67 converter. The problem is that I can’t find a selector switch that can handle 30A or more for this setup. If I use a marine grade battery selector/isolator switch (1/2/Both/Off type) then I run a risk of accidentally switching to the “Both” position and connecting Orion’s output to a power source that can potentially go to 15V. I know multiple Orion converters can be connected in parallel, but is that going to be a problem in my case since there maybe over 12V applied to the output terminals of the Orion.
