Can I set current limiter to start charging a deflated battery Orion Smart 12/12-30

Good day,

Problem here on Orion - Tr -Smart 12/12-30
If my remote batteries Lead Acid 200AH are halfway depleted, the start-up current seems to high creating a voltage drop to about 11.7 V which switches the system off.

Voltage from car system 13.5 - 13.8 V (approx 8 meters of cable with 1 Brad Harrison connector)

I assume it’s because of load peak as system wants to start then fails due to voltage drop

Is there a way I can limit the charging current to reduce voltage drop until the battery recovers before bulk charging sets in?

System works fine when battery is full and load connected to keep it at steady 100% whilst driving.

Any other way to allow the system to start when input voltage is low (i.e. < 12.0 V)

Thanks for thoughts or solutions.

I presume that this is the input voltage to the Orion, with the car main system running at 13.8V?
If so, then you would need to increase the wire size to the orion to eliminate this volt drop. Calculations show that for a 30A load current and 0.24V drop you need 50mm^2 cable for your length (8+8m).

Yes Mike that’s, correct.
I got it from the App just before the system switched to restart, and repeated multiple times.

I thought I can “override” the default and limit the start-up current, so that it starts to charge more gently hence reducing the voltage drop.

But that seems not an option for this Orion model.

Will look into rewiring, but it would need both, the vehicle and the trailer then.

Thanks a lot for your contribution.
