BMS Battery Cycle Count - GX Device List Status Detail - US5000

Hello Community,

I wonder whether it is possible to display the total cycle count of a BMS battery connected via CAN to a GX or not. Would be a useful information. Maybe it’s not propagated via CAN. Maybe it is available but not shown.

The new DESS report (Beta) is showing a cycle count but I guess that one is based on internal calculation and not on information from the battery BMS. My battery consists of two PylonTech US5000 connected via BMS CAN.

Would be great if the battery total cycle count shows up in the device list battery details.

It isn’t something that is covered in the BMS.CAN spec iirc.
Though would certainly be a nice to see.

@B51-technician just as a matter of interest what would be defined as a “cycle”?

Hello @Yachtbird , the datasheet of my US5000 shows >6000 cycles with a maximum of 95% DoD (depth of discharge). I always stay within the recommended current limits. Room temperature is around 20°. The cycle life-time should be more than enough for my scenario.

A complete cycle would be a full discharge and charge within the recommended limits. Since this normally never happens in one piece, a full cycle in my case would need more than one day.

Thanks, @nickdb . Maybe it gets available in a future revision of those specs to enable the GX to visualize it within the battery status.

@B51-technician yes the depth of discharge for a “cycle” may not be realised for marine installations we are involved in the marine world very often. That may make “cycle count” a poor indicator of battery activity in the installations I am involved with.
