Bluetooth adapter for Raspberry pi

I’m running Venus os on the raspberry pi and have 1 mopeka tank sensor so far. Sensor is outside and about 20 feet away but keeps disconnecting. I’d like to add another tank sensor and some Ruuvi temp sensors. Has anyone had luck getting a bluetooth dongle with antenna to work?

Venus bt is only for configuration, not for data exchange with external modules.

Victron philosophy

2 exceptions are the Mopeka Tank sensor and Ruuvi tag temperature sensor.

Ok, thx, I’ll try to remember

I looked up the bluetooth dongles that work and bought the TP-Link UB400. When I plugged it into the raspberry nothing. Should I be able to recognize it in the venus menus? Under Bluetooth sensors there is Bluetooth adapters, should it show up there? Then I realized that the list of working bluetooth adapters probably applied to the cerbo gx and not the raspberry pi. Will a bluetooth dingle work under the raspberry pi?. Is anyone working on a add on? The bluetooth on the raspberry has a very short range.

I have 2 bluetooth adapters hci0 and hci1 present, does this mean that both the pi and TP-link bluetooth are working at the same time?

A bit of success. The TP-Link UB400 works with the raspberry pi. Using a USB extension I’m able to get my Mopeka senor working mostly. Still not sure if plugging the UB400 in turns off the pi internal bluetooth though.

So I found to bluetooth adapters that work and improve reception: TP-Link UB400 and ZEXMTE 5.1

Second example has 2 antenna and works pretty good with a usb extension.
