BETA: Connect your Electrical Vehicle to VRM

@aleximbrea Hello, can you support me also Volvo car. I cannot sign in with Volvo account. Maybe can be caused as Volvo require mail verification code?

my volvo gives the same error, my jaguar is working fine.

Hi @Frantisek , odd, we’ll check out why your Volvo doesn’t work. Some colleagues have a Volvo, and for them it also works with email verification enabled.

You are exactly right: also we decided to connect to one API that supports all car brands. Alternatively, we would have to disappoint people with cars that are less popular, as maintaining an API for some users does not make sense.

Making this a paid feature is not a decision we took lightly: we took it however so that we can cover the recurring costs for the API and trust that we can service you with a connector that is stable and figured out how the different car brands work.

As your car is a big chunk of consumption, we trust that using Dynamic ESS in combination with smart EV charging will definitely earn back a part of the investment needed to unlock this feature.

If someone (DESS) will be able to take over from me everyday planning of best time to charge my EV I do not have a trouble to pay for that 60euro yearly.
Many customers are waiting for that!

Great news,

Mercedes linked without any problem, But how often is the data updated? I have the impression that the data was refreshed only right after the setup. Now VRM reports that the last update occurred more than an hour ago. The car has been charging for more than 15 minutes, but VRM has not recorded it. Thank you

@Barbara I’m having the same problem with my Volvo account. I get redirected to Volvo and login where I am shown a screen asking if I want to grant VRM access. I click to allow access, and am then redirected back to VRM with the same error noted by @Frantisek

Won’t connect to wifes Mini but connects fine to Porsche Taycan. Will be good to look at the range and charge off solar if ok or cheap rate if not. Not sure it will save £60 on electric per year over other methods but nothing is free in this world. Perhaps future development would be using the same idea as the Generator start stop but look at milage?

Hi,

The issue should now be fixed for Volvo vehicles, thank you for your patience!

Kind regards,

Lucian from the VRM team

yes, DESS integration will be added.
What else would you like, any other ideas for integrations?

Integration of evcc, not only Victron EVCS

Looks like Ford integration not working.

it is explained above, not working yet. For Ford, we have to add a Bluetooth pairing menu. It will be added

Currently I charge my id4 with the Tibber app. It knows when I want the car to be charged and when to do this with the cheapest hours. And it can take the solar panels into account. But it does not know the consumption of the other elements in the house for peak shaving.

The car starts and stops the charging. The EV charger itselves is a dumb charger without any smart features.

So, if the new new Victron functionality can take over the Tibber functionality including peak shaving and better DESS planning, this would be great.

I’m not really happy this is going to be a paid feature. At Tibber I also do not have to pay for this. It really depends on the future functionality if it’s going to pay off.

I cannot select my installation when connecting the car. The car is connected, but the list of installations remains empty.

update the GX to the latest beta fw. In the official one, this is not supported yet. And it is working only if you have a Victron charger in your system.

And about the payment, it can’t be free since we are also paying for it.
