Has anyone already found workable DESS settings for the Multi RS Solar? I’m particularly interested in the maximum charge and discharge power settings.
At the moment, my installation is still limited to 16 A AC, but soon it will be running unrestricted on a single-phase setup.
According to the datasheet, the Multi RS Solar can continuously discharge 25 A AC. What I’m mainly curious about is charging: it can charge up to 88 A DC from AC, while the total charge current (including PV) is limited to 100 A DC.
Which value do you use for the DESS charge setting?
The charge limit should basically match what your battery really can change from a system view.
It is used to calculate how much to buy from grid or how much solar can go into battery and what portion will go to grid.
Yet, configuring a lower number is not limiting something. I have also just configured 8 kW, despite my system could do more. (I don’t want to have the MPs running at 100% to save some cents through grid purchase)
For Solar-charging it is mainly about stats. During noon, DESS would predict - based on 8kW chargerate - that my battery charges 8kWh and 6kWh go to grid - yet my battery just soaks up 14 kWh Solar in that hour.
So, in a nutshell: Set a value roughly matching your system that makes you comfortable in terms of load, then it would work best.
Good to know that the PV production still gets stored in the battery. I thought DESS would act a bit more actively on its target setpoint based on the forecast. It would be a shame if that production ended up going to the grid instead.
So for the forecasting, it’s mainly important to consider what the AC side can handle and what’s comfortable for the system. Clear!
I’ve heard that DESS might run directly on the Multi RS in the future, to respond more quickly to fluctuating loads instead of working via an online connection. Is there any more information about this by chance?
Dunno where you heard that, but whoever said that seems to heavily overestimate the online-part: Just the schedule is generated remotely, execution of the plan and reacting to solar/consumption etc. is always done in realtime on your device.
