I have been selling and installing Victron products for well over 10 years now and it continues to annoy me that Victron won’t get their products CEC approved. They have approvals for MP2 3kand 5K but that’s it. Up until Dec 2024 we could use the RS 450’s to get around it but Victron has also allowed that approval to expire. So the only option now is to use a Fronius AC Coupled and when you need to add deadlock recovery DC connected panels as per manufacturers recommendations, the system incurs additional cost which is greater than the government rebate on offer. Driven by customer demand I am unfortunately going to have to go to other brands who have their products CEC approved.
That’s something you should discuss with your distributor or the sales manager of your region.
I have previously spoken with both regarding the issue.
WOW, massive game changer, Victron set to lose millions in sales due to not acquiring CEC Approvals as Australian Government announces up to $16000 per household to install CEC approved batteries and inverters.
Couldn’t agree more Brian. I’m based in WA and we also have the addition of a state government battery rebate. For Victron to be compliant they need not only CEC Approval but Virtual Power Plant (VPP) capability. While I understand from Victron’s perspective the bureaucracy of Australian Standards and in particular CEC Approval - it does really seem like a missed opportunity. Or perhaps Victron are content with just the off-grid and ever increasing RV market…
A real shame Victron don’t get more products approved.
One reason I am going with Victron off grid is to avoid the mess that will be created with VPP in the days to come
