Hi, looking for advice on what assistants to use, and option s to pick. I have a bs k to front system! 9.5kva generator (running on used oil) on ac1 in, grid as back up on ac2 in if generator fails. 450/200 RS currently with 3kw but much more planned. VE configure seems to mention lots of contradictory things, says things are depreciated etc. I am not sure whether when it talks about the grid it’s catering for my set up. The key thing is I do want to be able to export excess energy to the grid via ac2 in when I increase solar panels. So trying to find the right assistants to manage all this for me. I have generator stop/start installed. I don’t think ESS is right as I won’t use the grid input unless the genie fails. Adding a diagram to help
Do i understand you right, you want to run on generator and simultaneously export power to the grid ?
No, not with a single quattro.
You could connect an MP2 to the grid and the battery and export from there, manage it by ess and set allowable input from grid to 0.
Hi, not quite no. Generator is just for charging batteries/house load if charging. However, when I get more pv then I want to be able to export through ac2 in, when pv exceeds battery and house load, generator should not be on at any point when there is excess pv to export to grid
Ok, this way it will work.
Thanks I’ve got the generator assistant but which assistant, (hub1?) do I use and then which option. I’m also not 100% sure I have all the other settings on the other ve configure tabs correct, thanks
Sorry, you’ll need to setup the unit with a gridcode, ess and other things, this is out of my scope.
But there is a manual for using assistants !
Ok thanks for your help I will try and find the manual, grid code etc is set and because of my set up I don’t think Ess will work
Your setup is absolutely standard
Even using a generator as ac1 in and only using the grid in the event the generator fails?
Yes, ofc that is exactly what the system is made for, but restricting the current draw from girid should only be possible in ESS…i think.
But I’m sure someone else is reading here and can cut in
Ok thanks I will revisit ESS, I had read it wouldn’t work for my set up but will look at it again, thanks for you’d help
