Yesterday I tried to set the Generator Start and Stop function to manage the AC in. Previously I had the Virtual Switch set for this function. After having encountered malfunctions in the use of the Generator Start and Stop I set the virtual switch again. I have performed some tests but now this does not work anymore. It does not transfer the loads to the AC in when I exceed the set limit of 4000 watts. All the settings are correct and I have rebooted the system. Could it be a hardware problem? Ideas or suggestions on what the problem could be.
Try using victron connect to se the conditional connect not virtual switch. It is significantly easier to understand.
Thanks for the reply I have never used Victron Connect to configure the Multiplus. I have always used VE BUS configurator and I have never had any problems. The system is composed of 2 Multiplus in parallel and until two days ago the Ignore AC system worked perfectly. Now I don’t know what could have happened. Do you think a firmware update of the 2 Multiplus could help?
What I don’t understand is why the virtual switch doesn’t work now. I checked the file saved before setting the Start and Stop Generator and the settings are exactly the same. I’m worried that it could be due to the upgrade to Venus OS 3.50.
The AC input has a voltage of 230 volts. I turned on loads for 5 KW and even though the virtual switch was set to accept the input voltage after exceeding the threshold of 4 KW for 10 seconds it did not switch to the mains.
The venus should not affect the inverter connecting, unless you have programmed something there.
Post screenshots of your settings, maybe other eyes will see what you might be missing.
I updated the Multis firmware to the latest version and uploaded a new configuration file. Below are the screenshots of the VS settings.
I tried to turn on loads for 5 KW but nothing doing, it did not switch to the grid.
What setting in Venus OS can prevent system from switching to Grid?
Not much on the venus, unless you have node red or a relay or another way to trigger the connection.
Try uskng the conditional connect in victron connect to make the settings.
It is also possible your condiotal voltage settings are intefering with the acdeptance of the connection.
Start with one condition, then add and see what happens
Two days ago, to switch to the electricity grid, I set the Generator Start and Stop function. I set the start and stop relays and the general flag via the assistants in VE Bus. I then connected the Aux1 relay on the Cerbo GX to the Master Inverter. I then set the parameters for starting the generator in Venus OS but I immediately saw that these did not respond to the set parameters and the inverter was constantly in pass through. It was not possible to stop the generator (mains) and the only solution is disconnected the incoming network to send the inverter into inverting mode. Seeing that it didn’t work, I disconnected the cable, deactivated the relay and the generator start and stop function in Venus OS. Restored the virtual switch in VE Bus this no longer worked
You cannot use virtual switch and an assistant as the same time.
Virtual switch has to be disabled to use assistants. That is correct.
You will now use the generator start stop conditions on the Gx, set that to connect to grid under loads and battery soc as well.
Thanks for your replies. I did what you say I disabled the virtual switch and enabled the assistant but as I explained in the previous post it didn’t work. The settings on cerbo did not respond to what I had set and the system was always in passtrough.
I have a simpler way.
Use the cerbo relay to signal the t sense.
Use the progammable relay to use the t sense to drive the primary relay.
Set the relay on the gx to gen start stop. And work the conditions that way.
Giampaolo- primary relay drive t sense.zip (354 Bytes)
Sorry but I don’t know how to use the file you attached to your message.
Maybe worth trying. Turn toggleing on/off invert usage. Also, have you tried the dedicated ignore AC input?
You can unzip it and at the bottom of assistants where it says load and save you can load it from there.
When i get back to the pc i can make some screenshots
Thanks a lot. I’ll wait for the screenshots.
Thank you for your kind assistance and patience. Can you explain to me why I need to use Temperature Sense.
Your other options are the aux 1 or 2
Basically…
Wire the relay from the GX to the t sense (or whatever relay you choose in programming.)
Select the relay in the GX as your generator start stop.
Use the GX start stop functions to conditionally connect to the grid. The generator functions in the GX have many options.
Thanks for all the information when I will be home I try this configuration and let you know if it works.
