3 out of 4 Pytes v5 batteries are always in standby

Hi,

I have a newly installed 3 phase Victron Multiplus II/5000 ESS with 4 Pytes 51.2/100Ah batteries.

According to the installation manual, the lowest battery should be the Master battery which is connected to the Cerbo GX.
The Cerbo GX also shows 4 online batteries. But the only active battery is the top one, the others are green blinking.

Since 4 days, only this battery is active.

Does anybody know something a can try to get the other batteries out of the standby mode?

How is the system programmed?
With ESS? If so is the system set to keep batteries charged?

Where the 4 online is show is ther charge and discharge information? Such as charge current limit and discharge current limit and voltage?

It is programmed according to this manual: https://www.victronenergy.com/live/_media/battery_compatibility:pytes_victron_ve_configure_setting_with_pytes_51.2v_batteries.pdf

With ESS assistent.

I tried “Optimized with BatteryLife” and “Optimized without BatteryLife”

And setting the minimum state of charge to what percentage?

Do you have solar at all?

I tried 40% and 10%.

Yes, a 10kW Huawei inverter.

So you want them to discharge more? I think start with ess scheduled charge and get them to charge first then work out the rest.

Ok so not taking to the system is it on the ac in?

You will have to treat it like grid and set the inverter to charge up during solar hours or something like that unless you add a meter or a modification for it.

I want the other 3 batteries to charge.

The BMS of the Pytes batteries only load to 59%.

PV is on grid side and inverter is on ac in. Controlling grid output to 0W works.

Bypass the system.

Try switching off the inverter.
Switching off the batteries.

Wait about 3 or 4 minutes.

Switch on the batteries
Wait for the GX to initialise
Then switch the inverter back on.

If it doesn’t charge then then switch to charger only.

Set the system to keep batteries charged.

Hi, it seems normal. This might be due to a difference in state of charge between the batteries. Are the batteries providing enough backup time? If a battery is neither charging nor discharging, it will go into standby mode to preserve its energy.

@PytesEnergy Please have a look at the attached console output for each battery. Only one battery charges, all other stays at 46%.

There is still enough energy flowing back to the grid.
