Updated to 51~2 but EVCS is still not connected to either ac-loads or essential-loads.
But note, it’s not a Victron EVCS. It’s a EM24ethernet measuring a third party EVCS.
Thanks for the report, I have moved this to a new topic as per How to post in the Beta Testing categories
Please change the title as necessary. Thanks.
Oops, thanks. And the title is absolutely ok.
I have updated the VM-3P75CT to firmware 1.08-beta and changed the role to EVCS as well.
IN my overview it is connected to Essential loads, but in reality it is connected to AC-Loads. I haven’t found a way (yet) to connect it to the AC-Loads instead of Essential.
Victron has announced that the EVCS-role for other type of measurement is not official and thus not supported yet.
Ohh, thats very interesting!
Sorry for the OT, but where can i find more infos about Using an EM540/ VM-3P75CT AS EVCS meter?
How is it possible to configure and what are the advantages besides the “EVCS”-Widget itself in VRM and RemoteConsole?
I found a way to change the connection. This can be done via MQTT.
I have used the programm ‘MQTT Explorer’ and noticed this topic:
N/[my id]/evcharger/1/Position the value ’ {“value” : 0 } '.
I have changed it to 1. This changed the Remote console and VRM to above picture. Picture before, see my other post.
You just publish this message:
{“value”:1}
to topic:
W/ [your id]/evcharger/1/Position

For the EM meters, you can open
Remote Console > Settings > Device List > EM meter > Setup > Role > EV Charger
For the VM-3P75CT you need to install the latest beta version of Victron Connect on your phone.
Then, go to your devices and click it. On the gear-icon you can change the role. If it is not visible, you need to update your device. For me it was visible after updating the firmware of the energy-meter to a beta version (1.08-beta…)
As said, the EVCS widget for energy meters is not a full feature yet. For now there is only a widget to visualize your charger power and logging.
Regards, Roel.
"For the EM meters, you can open
Remote Console > Settings > Device List > EM meter > Setup > Role > EV Charger"
That’s exactly what I did. But the result is no connection to AC loads or critical loads as shown in screenshot above.
The connection can be established via an MQTT command. See this post:
Roel.
Maybe I’ll try this in the evening.
But it should get a setting at device list as it is for the role ‘PV-Inverter’ as well.
@mpvader Do you have it on the list?
Ah thank you!
But only with the beta i guess? no such option to find under v1.06 ahh found it in the victron connect beta!
Everyday something new
@OJack True, but the EVCS option (based on info from a energymeter) is not yet supported bij Victron.
See:
“Using energy meters to meter an EVCS is not an official feature yet, and we know there is more work needed.”

Ah okay. So actually there is no real advantage of using an (Victron) EM for metering an non-Victron EVCS besides the widget in VRM and RC?
A real and usefull feature i wish is to separate the “normal”/house- consumption and the EV-Consumption. especially for the consumption-forecast feature this will be very usefull.
Sorry. I do not know if this consumption is calculated differently. I just found out about this option right after the release of 3.51~2.
Hi, to add to this:
Yes that is exactly the idea.
However, this is for later. Right now this is an unfinished feature and in hindsight we should perhaps have hidden it for the official release.
Best regards, Matthijs
Yes there is a reason it is required and I do this (using ET112) … So it can be seen and automated in Node-RED.
My EVSE sits on the Quattro output. Without detecting it pulling power the home battery would drain into the EV.
Also my electric tarrif is only cheap when the EV is charging dynamically, so home batteries can be then charged at this time (again through automation)
The only thing I can’t seem to do is make the power number appear in VRM https://community.victronenergy.com/t/vrm-missing-ev-charger-power/
