I have aquired 2x 200w kings fixed solar panels and 1x Victron mppt 100/20 contoller . Can i run these panels in series or parallel to supply a 100ah lithium battery. Thanks
I have two of them on a 24V system in series. The voltage sits around 35V, and the current doesn’t go over 9A unless a cloud passes. I’m using a 100/50. I do upgrade this to run four panels on this charger during summer, too much shade atm. I usually get about 130W-140W max from each panel. I’m in Townsville, North QLD. On a 12V system, you should be seeing around 18A from both.
If you want to connect them in series, you’ll need to open up the Anderson and replace it with a single 50A style connector, or use a couple of standard double Anderson plugs and join them together. Another option is to cut them off and add MC4 connectors, but I don’t recommend MC4 unless you have the proper crimping tool. The current and voltage from these panels can burn or melt things very quickly if not done right.
