New 12/2000/80-50 works fine up to 900W load. A higher load of 950 to 1500W makes the alarm goes off and inverter shuts down immediately. Prior to installation into my trailer I bench tested the unit using a new and fully charged LiTime 200Ah battery (using the Victron 30A charger with proper setting)), properly crimped and lugged - equal length 4/0 cables at 24” (610 mm) . All terminations are clean and torqued to specs. Temperature at testing was 15C (60F). The unit is new and has never been used. Purchased in November 2025 on Amazon.
What do you use as a load?
I first used a heat gun on low setting - no problem. Then switched to the high setting of 1300 W and immediately tripped it. This I did twice allowing 2 minutes between each test. I then tried a 300 watt corded drill - no problem. Then a 500W drill - no problem. Then a small 900 W 1/2" torque wrench - no problem. Any loads higher than this and the inverter shut down.
How did you programmed the Multiplus?
Download the Victron Toolkit app onto your phone.
When the Multiplus shuts down make a note of which leds are on steady and which ones are blinking and then look in the status definitions section of the Toolkit app to see why it is shutting down.
I turned dip switch #2 on and the rest are off.
The only LED on was the green one. No other lights came on during or after the shut down. After about 60 seconds the inverter would turn itself on again, no lights present other than the green, always on, light
Multiplus should be programmed to the requirements of you battery manufacture with Victron Connect or Ve.configure with a MK 3 Interface.
Dip fix #2 is for lead batteries
In my MultiPlus manual, Version 07 Nov 2021; 5.5.1 shows the factory default setting as: #1 is off, #2 is on - which is the On/Off/Charger Only setting, and all others off. I’ve tried it with #2 off and the inverter does not turn on. In Example 5.5.2 it shows the above setting as 14.4V Absorption and 13.8V as float. All other dip switch settings will have charging voltages lower or higher than what is recommended by the battery manufacturer. So your chart does not correspond with what’s in my manual.
