Simple Grid connected Single Phase ESS with UPS backup to critical loads, Hot water Diversion and EV Charging. G99 Fastrack Route with G100 Export Limitation.

PAS63100 & BS 7671 18th Edition Amendment 4 Compliant

Installed with 10.5kW Solar Array; 21 x JA Solar 500W Panels

2 x MPII 5KVA Inverter Chargers, 1 x Fronius Primo 3kVA Solar Inverter, 1 x RS450 100A MPPT Charge Controller.

EkranoGX, Victron VM-3P75CT Energy Meter, Victron Filax, and a Shelly 1 Gen 3 Relay.

Pylontech US5000 Battery modules; further storage capacity will be added within cabinets once back in stock.

But why isn’t the Fronius connected to the AC Out on the Multis? :face_with_monocle: Perhaps you could switch the Fronius to the AC Out using a changeover switch in case of an emergency or power cut…

Yes absolutely, plan to utilise the benefit of the Victron & Fronius AC Coupling MG50, particularly beneficial during winter when power cuts are more likely, all the solar generation helps!

Having a study of the setup procedure and will be implementing it next week. Our first time doing true AC coupling with Victron creating micro grid.

Have left a spare breaker for it in AC-OUT 1 DB, so easy to swap.

Do you need to use the PV Inverter Support (0128) Assistant? Is there any implications to operating the system as an ESS when grid connected?

Very nice but far from a simple single phase system lol, no issues apart from following the 1to1 rule with the size of the PV system and just make sure frequency shift is working but don’t think you would have any issues as the intergration is better than my Solis but that works great and frequency shifts too

I like particularly the license plate under the switch-box, never seen this before.

I would definitely install the PV Assistant, even though the Fronius control system works brilliantly via the MG50. In the event that the control system does happen to fail, the Fronius reacts to the frequency boost from the Multis at the AC Out and regulates itself down accordingly. That’s why the Fronius can run continuously at the AC Out without any problems. The conditions for the 1:1 rule are, after all, met

@PeakShaving is operating it in ESS both PV and ESS should not be installed as ESS handles the PV system, the System is given over to ESS it controls the lot. I run two Solis inverters as long as the AC inverters frequency shift and the 1 to 1 rule observed it doesn’t matter what AC solar inverter you use cavet to using other inverters is you need either ET112 VM3P75CT or similar to register there input power to the Victron system other than that it’s all the same and would continuously run on AC out during grid down until Victron systems says batteries are full et cetera

That’s true, of course … :upside_down_face: The newer version of the ESS already includes full support for AC-coupled inverters. You’ll also need to specify the installed PV capacity and inverter capacity here. :+1:

Have some other new projects where their is existing non -fronius inverters for solar PV and wind. Good to know that Solis & others can frequency shift too.

Must investigate if Hypontech Solar PV Inverters and Orbital DVE Wind Inverters can work.

Enclosure was custom 3D printed by a friend.

Victron should consider offering something similar.
