My RV was pre-wired for an inverter with a yellow 12 AWG romax wire. Each wire should handle 20 amps. I purchased two Multiplus 3000 watt inverters to use. 3000 watts divided by 120VAC is 25 amps. This yellow wire is not rated for 25 amps. Do I use 100VAC RMS instead of 120VAC for this wire sizing. This wire was not stamped with the temperature rating.
Are you running 2 multiplus inverters in parallel?
Thanks, Trevor: My goal is to run one Multiplus-A into the breaker box which connects to the “main breaker-A” independent of the other Multiplus-B. Multiplus-B will connect to the other “main breaker-B”. My RV takes shore power with two independent 50 amp services. My generator also has two independent 30 amp outputs. Do you see a flaw in my Multiplus usage?
Hi Tim, sounds like a good plan. It must be a fairly large RV to have that power requirement. Sounds like you have it all worked out though.
Ok, us rating 20a, european 34
I just realized that my RV was probably prewired for a 2k watt inverter. That’s why they used 12AWG. I am adding a 3k watt. I will have to replace the wire with 10 awg for my 25 amps.
