Why won’t my Victron charger enter float mode

I agree with you.

It’s unfortunate that the Victron user manuals seem to suggest otherwise, for example here in the IP22 manual they say:

4.2. Charge modes

There are 3 integrated charge modes (Normal, High and Li-Ion), as well as an optional Recondition stage that can be included (except for Li-ion mode).

The integrated charge modes combined with adaptive charge logic are well suited for most common battery types; such as flooded lead-acid, AGM, Gel and LiFePO4

(page 10, emphasis mine)

It says “for most common battery types”.

It also says:
grafik

and:

The default presets are just recommendations.
The user/installer needs to check if the settings are suitable for the installed battery and adjust the settings if needed.

It’s not Victrons responsibility to provide presets for every available battery type/chemistry.

From my experience the LiFePO4 preset works well with generic LiFePO4 batteries.

But I have to agree that “Li-Ion” is a misleading name, this should be LiFePO4.

I am keeping my 200 AH LFP house battery at 13.0 VDC for storage setting as I have read that the LFP batteries do better sitting at less than full charge (13.8 or 13.6 VDC?)and we go weeks without using any power on the boat over winter months (well, Dec and Jan here in Georgia). If we plan on using the boat duringthat time I just unplug sharger and plug back in and it starts a full re charge cycle to 14.6 VDC and then goes to float and then storage mode again at 13.0 VDC. This has been working fine for about 5 years now. Also, I have a state of charge shunt (Not Victron) that I can monitor the SOC with and when it gets below 13.0 VDC in storage the charger will go back into charge mode that shows up on the SOC gauge. What settings do you use for your battery? Bulk/Absorb/float/storage?
