Dear community,
I’ve been reading this forum for a long time and I’ve learned a lot from your experience but know I am facing a problem and I am unable to find a clear solution.
The question is that I have a boat and I have changed my old service bank of AGM batteries for 2 Life batteries in parallel.
To charge the Life batteries I bought a bigger alternator with the Wakespeed WS500 as external regulator.
The starting battery (AGM) will be charged from the service battery through an Orion DC-DC.
My question is that all the schemes I’ve seen there is only one group of batteries. The WS500 is switched on with the positive on/off button of the dashboard of the engine. Which takes the power from the starting battery.
So I am scared that the WS500 is in fact connecting both batteries.
To avoid that possibility I had thought in a system of relays, but I don’t know if it’s really necessary or there is no problem in connecting directly the ws500 to the dashboards?
As I am new I’m going to try to attach the scheme
Thanks in advance!
