Virtual Grid Meter Issue

I am using virtual grid meters in Node-RED to graph external loads in VRM. Unfortunately it is not currently possible to assign a role to virtual grid meters, like you can do for physical meters:

Being unable to select “AC load” as the role of the virtual grid meter means that Venus OS will switch to using the virtual grid meter as the source of the AC input power reading when the actual physical meter disconnects temporarily. The latter can happen, for example, when a user clicks on Device List → Firmware Update in VRM to check if there are any available firmware updates. When Venus OS has switched to using the virtual grid meter as the AC input power meter it will continue doing so until the next reboot.

Needless to say, using the output value of the virtual grid meter instead of the actual physical meter is very undesirable. What I’m seeing happen after this is that if the measured load switches on then the Multiplus II will start draining the batteries in order to try and balance the perceived AC input power, which will of course not work and instead feed power into the grid (which may not be allowed by the utility).

Could you please add the option to assign a role to virtual grid meters to prevent the above from happening?

P.S. While you’re at it, please also fix virtual motor devices. Those seem to be broken quite badly: If you add one in Node-RED then the Venus OS UI does strange things.

You should add something like: “[Feature Request]” to the title

did you find a work round for this issue ?

Wanting to show my heat pump in the VRM using my esp home sensors

No, unfortunately I didn’t find a workaround, and had to abandon using virtual grid meters.
